Clonard emerge victorious at the 2025 Irish Boys U17 Cup!
Both finalists were unbeaten heading into the final as both teams topped their groups, winning both their group games. Clonard faced last year’s winners, Corrib, who they beat 8-7 in a very close match, to advance to the final. While Half Moon beat Cathal Brugha 10-9 to secure their spot in the playoff for the trophy.
In the final, it was the Ulster side who proved too strong, coming back from 3-5 at HT, managing to take the lead throughout the second half to finish 11-6 winners, as they won the U17 Cup title.
Boys MVP of the tournament was Finn Garry (Clonard).
In the girl’s competition Tribes won the U17 Cup for the fourth year in a row. As in the boy’s competition both finalists went unbeaten heading into the final. Tribes went on to face Sandycove in their semi-final where they were comfortable winners (25-2). The second semi-final saw Diamonds beating out Clonard for a spot in the final (17-3).
In the final, the first half of the game was close with Tribes only holding a 1-point lead of 4-5 after the second quarter. The Galway side pulled away, taking home a 12-7 win and their 7th U17 Cup title.
Girls MVP of the tournament was Laura Casserly (Tribes).
A big thank you to our President Adrian Hanna Senior, who presented our awards and Decky McKerr for his role in coordinating the Match Officials. Thank you to our Referees, Table Officials, Swim Ulster and in particular to Tournament Directors Jane Reillly and Renato Lopes for overseeing the competition.
Also, thank you to our pool providers and staff at Lisnasharragh Leisure Centre who were very obliging and helping in making hours available over the weekend and providing assistance over the course of the weekend.
