𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗔𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 🤽‍♀️ 

Swim Ireland is proud to announce the U18 Girls Water Polo Squad set to represent Ireland at the European Aquatics Water Polo Championships from the 31st August until the 7th September. National Head Coach Goran Sablic has confirmed the final squad of 14 athletes and 3 team staff who will head to Gzira, Malta to represent Ireland in the European Championships ☘️

𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗔𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 

Swim Ireland is proud to announce the U18 Boys Water Polo Squad set to represent Ireland at the European Aquatics Water Polo Championships in Rio Maior, Portugal from 18–24 August 2025! 

After months of hard work and a competitive selection process, National Head Coach Goran Sablic has named the final 14-player squad and 4 staff members who represent Ireland in August ☘️

Wexford SC took home the trophy of the U12 Mixed C Wexford SC took home the trophy of the U12 Mixed Cup for the first time ever! The final was an incredible affair, with Wexford claiming the title of U12 Mixed cup champions for the first time, with a brilliant 7-0 win against a strong Clonard side.

In the 3rd/4th playoff Drogheda claimed the bronze medal with an 8-5 win over North Dublin.

Girls MVP of the tournament was Emma Murnaghan (Drogheda)
Boys MVP of the tournament was Daniel Jordan (Wexford)

A big thank you to our tournament director over the two weekends, Gabor Deak, delegate Stephen O’Brien, to all our referees & table officials, national head coach Goran Sablic, who was in attendance for the presentations of medals and our Swim Ireland Water Polo Team, Aveen Colvin and Kirstie Stevenson for their preparations for the weekend.

Also thank you to the duty manager and the staff in the National Aquatic Centre who were very obliging in making hours available over the weekend and providing assistance when needed.

We are seeking water polo players to take part in our Level 1 & Level 2 Coaching Practical this weekend.

This would be a great opportunity for you all to get some free training and help to develop our aspiring coaches. Please keep in mind, without players in the water, these practicals cannot run.

Our 2025 Irish U12 Mixed Cup begins tomorrow, 7th Our 2025 Irish U12 Mixed Cup begins tomorrow, 7th June 2025, with the first of the group stage matches starting at 14:30. The tournament will be played in the National Aquatic Centre, Dublin.

Swim Ireland Water Polo are deeply saddened to hea Swim Ireland Water Polo are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Paschal Hedderman last week. 

Paschal was a great and respected member of the Water Polo and greater swimming community. As a past president of the Irish Water Polo Association and former member of Dolphin Swimming Club, he dedicated many years of service to our sport. 

Our thoughts are with his wife Sheila, son Finbarr, daughter Fiona, his family, friends, and all who knew and cared for him.
