U19 Cup – Vincent’s & Tribes Come Out on Top

Last weekend saw the 2025 U19 Cup take place at University of Limerick from November 28th-30th. This competition saw teams across both boys & girls compete from all over the island, ending in an exciting finish on Sunday evening.

In the boys competition, St. Vincents came out as winners after narrowly beating their group stage rivals, Corrib, with the score of 9-10. Both teams faced off against strong competition from Ulster in their semi finals (Corrib vs Clonard 13-10, St. Vincents vs Cathal Brugha 10-7) before meeting again in the final.

In the girls competition, it was Tribes that once again took home the silverware, for the third consecutive Cup competition of the season. After seeing off Clonard in their semi final 20-5, they set up a final between St. Vincents, who beat Diamonds 6-5 in their respective semi. Tribes were strong favourites for the final after a very strong performance all week, and won the final match of the day with a score of 11-4.

The MVP awards for the tournament went to:

  • Boys: Loki Gill (St. Vincents)
  • Girls: Lydia McNicolas (Tribes)

Both awards, along with the Cups were presented by Ireland Water Polo President, Adrian Hanna.
