Liam Smyth RIP
Ireland Water Polo are saddened at the news of the passing of Liam Smyth.
Liam was a founding member of Corrib WPC in 1980 going on to become their first Senior Coach, taking the club to their first Irish Senior Cup Semi-Final in 1999.
Liam also played an instrumental role in the nineties in bringing Water Polo to Claremorris Swimming Club achieving huge success at junior level winning numerous cup titles.
Liam, an avid volunteer was also Irish National Junior Team Manager for a number of years and helped so many of our younger athletes to flourish in a sport he loved.
Our deepest sympathy and thoughts are with Liam’s wife Anne, sons Ben, Harry, Sam, Josh and Alex, brothers Tony, Padraig, Tommie and Joe, sister Maura and all his relatives and friends within the swimming and water polo communities.
