Corrib & Tribes win U13 Cup 2024 titles

Corrib retained their Boys U19 Cup title for a third year running, after beating Belfast club Clonard in what was a great final.
Both finalists went unbeaten heading into the final with Clonard winning their 2 group games and Corrib winning their 3 group games. With both teams topping their groups, Clonard, faced St Vincents who they beat 12-9 in a penalty shoot-out, to advance to the final. In the other semi, Corrib faced Half Moon, putting up a convincing score of 17-4.
In the final, it was the Galway side who proved too strong, leading 4-2 at HT, managing to keep a lead throughout the second half to finish 12-4 winners, as they won their 7th U19 Cup title.
Boys MVP of the tournament was Austin Murphy (Corrib).
In the girl’s competition Tribes won the U19 Cup for the second year in a row. As in the boy’s competition both finalists went unbeaten heading into the final. Tribes went on to face Cathal Brugha in their semi-final where they were comfortable winners (22-5). The second semi-final saw St Vincents beating out Diamonds for a spot in the final (12-4).
In the final, Tribes went from strength to strength, with a lead of 6-2 at HT. The second half was similar to the first, seeing the Galway side taking home a 13-5 win and their 5th U19 Cup title.
Girls MVP of the tournament was Laura Casserly (Tribes).
A big thank you to our President Adrian Hanna Senior, who presented our awards, all our referees and table officials and in particular to Tournament Directors, Teresa Moran and Eamon Caulfield for running the tournament over the weekend.
Also thank you to our pool providers and staff (University of Limerick) who were very obliging and helping in making hours available over the weekend and providing assistance over the course of the weekend.
