Level 1 Assistant Water Polo Coach

On successful completion of this course you will have gained the necessary skills to demonstrate an understanding of basic coaching skills, water polo specific coaching skills, coach and athlete development and good practice in coaching ethics.

Be responsible for up to 6 athletes whilst working under the supervision of a qualified Level 2 Water Polo Coach.

Have a basic understanding of all elements of the water polo game.

Minimum age to attend this course is 15 years.

For candidates attending this course aged over 16 years Garda Vetting/Access NI and a current Safeguarding Certificate are pre-requisites.

Level 2 Water Polo Coach

Following successful completion of all elements of this course you will have obtained the skills which will allow you prepare and deliver session plans and training cycles.

Be responsible for athletes (in line with Safe Supervision Guidelines) and Level 1 Assistant Water Polo Coaches.

Deliver on basic principles surrounding nutrition, hydration, psychology, strength and conditioning, biomechanics, and physiology within a water polo environment.

Have an in depth understanding of the technical aspects of water polo.

Manage and communicate effectively in the development of water polo athletes.

For candidates attending this course aged over 16 years Garda Vetting/Access NI and a current Safeguarding Certificate are pre-requisites.

STEP – Swim Training & Education Platform

STEP is Swim Ireland’s e-Learning platform which was developed and first came into use in 2018.

All blended Coaching and Teaching courses now have an e-learning element which is completed through STEP prior to the course commencing. This reduces the number of face to face hours required to complete a course.

We now also deliver online CPD’s to our Coaches and Teachers through our Swim Training & Education Platform (STEP)

All current licensed Water Polo Coaches were given access to STEP in early 2019. These Coaches now have access to our National Standards as developed by our Head Coach Goran Sablic. This content is broken into three sections Skills, Drills and Game Plans across three age groups U13, U15 and U17.
